Wet Paint Auction Benefit

Artist Prospectus

Cape Elizabeth Land Trust (CELT) invites artists to participate in Paint for Preservation, the first annual wet paint auction benefit to be held Sunday, August 24. On the day of the event, juried artists will paint onsite at designated public and private locations across Cape Elizabeth. The public is invited to watch participating artists work on location.  Later, a cocktail reception is planned at Apple Tree Hill, 114 Old Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth and the newly-created, unframed artwork will be auctioned off.  Proceeds benefit the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust.

Artists: Juried participation.
Medium: Open to all mediums. Artists working in watercolors and pastels may provide a mat; no frames.
Artwork size: Minimum 8"X8"; maximum 18"x24"
Schedule:

8 - 8:30am Artists register at the CELT office located at 330 Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth, provide a three to five line bio (for use by auctioneer), enjoy coffee and danish, pick up box lunch and drink, and indicate painting location with push pin on map.
8:30 - 3:30pm Paint on location.
3:30 - 4:00pm Artists bring paintings to auction location and supply easel for display.
5:00pm Cocktail reception. Artwork will be available for viewing.
6:00pm Wet paint auction

Benefit:  Participating artists donate 50% to 100% of the selling price of the art.  Proceeds benefit CELT. 

Tickets: Tickets to the evening event are $35. per person.  Tickets include admittance to the reception and allow the ticket holder to obtain a bid number at the auction.  Participating artists receive a complimentary ticket to the evening event.

How to submit: Interested artists are invited to submit two samples (slides or digital images on CD) of original paintings in any medium for juried consideration to participate in Paint for Preservation. Slides or CD along with a three to five line biography should be sent to CELT Paint for Preservation, Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, PO Box 265 ccb, Cape Elizabeth, ME  04107.  Deadline for submission is June 15.  Artists will be notified of acceptance by June 30.
