Description/History

Hobstone Woods contains a beautiful stretch of woodland vernal pools and streams surrounded by thick stands of spruce, fir, and hemlock. The Hobstone trails meander through dense forest past many rock outcrops, over streams, and along old stone walls. One trail leads to a scenic overlook of the marsh on the east side of the property. It’s a great spot for witnessing fall colors and spotting birds. Additional loops off the main trail offer more walking and exploring options. Originally planned as the third phase of condominiums at Hobstone, this 21-acre property was purchased by the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, Hobstone Road residents, and the Town of Cape Elizabeth in 1997.
