

Each year CELT hosts a number of programs and hikes designed to help visitors to our properties understand and appreciate the many natural wonders preserved in Cape Elizabeth. Please join us!

TRAIL CLEANUP DAYS
Over the next several weeks we'll be working hard to get all of the trails cleaned up from the winter and ready for everyone's enjoyment this summer. We rely on the support of our members and other supporters of the trail network to make this light work and to make it FUN!
Please email Steve Ballou if you can come so we can plan for the right number of tools. Come join us on the following dates:
Cross Hill : Wednesday, May 7th, 3:00-5:00PM. Meet at the basketball court on Cross Hill Road.
Hobstone Woods : Saturday, May 10th, 9:00AM-12:00noon. Meet at the cul-de-sac at the entrance to the trail.
Robinson Woods : Saturday, June 7th, 9:00AM-12:00noon. Meet at the kiosk on Shore Road.
NATURE WALKS
Learn more about Cape’s natural habitats and their unique flora and fauna from knowledgeable Cape residents. Sponsored by the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, these walks will increase your awareness and appreciation of the varied open spaces here in Cape Elizabeth. Group size is limited. Sign up for one or more of the guided walks. Walks will be held rain or shine so dress appropriately with footwear for wet walking. All proceeds will be donated to the C.E. Land Trust. When registering, please indicate which session(s).
Each walk is $5/per person or $10/per family.
Session 2: Vernal Pools and Wildflowers in Robinson Woods (led by Tony Owens), Wednesday, 5/28, 10:00 AM-12:00 noon. Meet at the Robinson Woods parking area by the stone pillars on Shore Rd.
CAPE LANDS
Held at the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust’s new office, this program offers a virtual tour of public access properties in Cape Elizabeth. Come learn about and see pictures of the incredible variety of habitats and recreational opportunities available on locally preserved land. Hosted by CELT Executive Director Chris Franklin, this program will also illustrate how the Land Trust is using mapping software to map and monitor its properties. Ample time is allotted to answer questions regarding local trails and CELT’s role in local land preservation.

SPRING HIKES IN CAPE (3rd & 4th graders)
Join us for fresh and outdoor exercise as spring warms the earth! Enjoy the beauty of our hometown by hiking sections of the CE Land Trust property and Greenbelt trails. Each after school hike will be about two miles and cover different terrain and habitats. Bring a snack, water bottle, and good walking shoes (possibly boots for the springtime mud). Pick up will be in the rear lot of the Community Center.
